Welcome to my home page! As both a technology entrepreneur and a conservation consultant, I am excited to share my work with you. And I welcome your feedback!

My mission-driven mobile app company, TravelStorysGPS, LLC, combines the greatest communication tool of all time – storytelling – with the most popular communication tool of our time – the smartphone – to connect people to landscapes and communities. Our free app, TravelStorys, offers media-rich, GPS-triggered audio tours synched to the users’ traveling pace, so they can immerse themselves in their journeys hands-free. Download it from the App Store or Google Play or go to

The idea for this venture occurred to me in 2011, when I was brainstorming new and innovative ways for conservationists to broaden their audiences and raise awareness about the lands they were working to protect. With the near omnipresence of smartphones, it made sense to tap into their GPS technology to provide high-quality storytelling to people on the move. The idea was a huge success. Since launching our first two tours in our Jackson Hole, Wyoming, base in 2012, we have partnered with 40 organizations, agencies and businesses to produce more than 60 tours in 14 states and three countries – and our library is growing rapidly.

I am also a professional land conservationist specializing in conservation finance innovation. I advise organizations and individuals on new funding and financing strategies, and where and how to find money to conserve land. I develop new funding strategies, myself, and research other innovations, consult, teach and write.

My first book, A Field Guide to Conservation Finance, was published by Island Press in 2007. I wrote it for a broad audience: for anyone who would like to gain new skills so they can be more effective contributors to community and global conservation and social well-being.
